Sign in and password

Sign in for the first time

There is no sign-up page. You join when someone invites you. Your first sign-in uses a link sent to your email, so you don't need a password yet.

  1. Open the invitation email. It says who invited you, for example Anil Joseph at Pente invited you to run Northwind Plumbing.
  2. Click the link in it.
  3. Click Join. You are signed in.

No invitation? Go to the sign-in page, type your email, click Continue, then click Email me a sign-in link. Then open the email Your sign-in link and click the link.

A link works one time, for 15 minutes. If it stops working, ask for a new one on the sign-in page. If the email doesn't come, look in your spam folder.

Set a password (do it right away)

A password lets you sign in faster next time. After you sign in with an email link, a bar at the top says Set a password now and how many minutes are left. You have 15 minutes.

  1. Click Set a password.
  2. Type your new password in New password, then again in The same again. Use at least 12 letters, numbers or signs.
  3. Click Set password. You stay signed in.

If Steward emailed you the link you signed in with, you choose your password right away. If your invitation came from someone's own email, or someone copied the link for you, we first email you a link to make sure the address is yours. Open it, then choose your password.

If the time runs out, sign in again with a new emailed link, then set your password.

Setting a password signs you out everywhere else (other computers and phones). That keeps your account safe.

Sign in with your password

  1. On the sign-in page, type your email and click Continue. Then click Use your password.
  2. The sign-in page opens. Its address starts with id.sandbox.runsteward.ai. That is normal: it is our sign-in service.
  3. Type your password and click Sign in.

Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? on that page. Or click Email me a sign-in link to get in without one.

A code from your phone

Some businesses ask for a second sign-in step: a code from an app on your phone (an authenticator app, like Google Authenticator). Businesses that handle health information always ask for it.

Set up your code only through Steward. One set up anywhere else (for example while resetting your password) is removed, and we email you to say so.

When a business you belong to asks for this code, emailed sign-in links don't work for you: sign in with your password and the code. If you ask for a link anyway, we email you to say so instead.

No code yet? Sign in with your password. Steward stops on Set up your sign-in code. Click the button there. We email you a link to make sure it's you, or we ask for your password again. Then scan the square code with the app and type the 6 numbers it shows. Owners do this too: nobody is locked out of their own business.

Still stuck?

Sign in, then click your initials and Report a problem. Can't sign in at all? Ask the person who invited you, or the owner of your business.
